In the pines 2009

I searched on flickr for pictures of the band and was suprised to come across many I had no idea existed.
The picture here is a crowd reaction to our performance at RTR's In the Pines 2009 Music Festival.
I like this picture a lot because it's something that you don't really absorb as things are happening because your focus is on what you are doing, so it's nice to see this lady's reaction and the people surrounding her. I also like it because she's cute and drinking booze and enjoying herself and in todays saccharine politically correct environment I'm pretty sure that being cute, drinking booze and enjoying yourself will soon be crimes against the state, if they aren't already.

This is my best mate, the most blues wailingest Mr Garry Shuttleworth who has been tearing Perth a new one for the past 30 years and is without doubt the most under rated guitar player in Australia. That guitar he is playing is older than most of the people reading this. The original finish is almost totally eroded away by years of playing and I'm pretty convinced that this wonderful instrument has also absorbed the smoke and sweat and blood and tears of thousands of gigs, or it could just be that Garry instinctively knows what he's doing and manages to produce the best live tone of any guitar player within our shores.

This is a shot taken from the rear of the stage. It was a bloody great gig and a really good vibe. It was the largest crowd I have played in front of with over 1000 punters turning up for a day of music. RTRFM continue to embrace and support local musicians and the local music scene. Bless 'em!

Band intro

Kevin Smith and the Seven Storey Jumpers are a rock and roll band from Fremantle, Western Australia. Their second CD "Within' the shadows, beyond the dark" will be released on Janurary 17th, 2011. The band began as a recording only project featuring members of the Kill Devil Hills, Grinderman and the Bayou Brothers and morphed into a live outfit playing their hard-edged brand of Australian rock and roll.
The line-up changed after the release of their first CD "The souls of men, the breath of kings" with the departure of Richard Woollett (Bayou Brothers) and Martyn Casey (Grinderman) the band recruited Wayne Green and the Phantoms bass player, Alex Wilson and ironically the only other core member of the Bayou Brothers, Andrew Morgan, on guitar, harmonica and vocals. Kevin Smith, (vocals and guitar) Garry Shuttleworh (guitar) and Ben Crappsley (Drums) complete the line-up. They can been seen at various live venues throughout Western Australia. Check local gig guides or www.myspace.com/sevenstoreyjumpers for further details.
